Pictures of Your Home
Real Estate around Seattle
Pictures of your home you take now will pay off later.
Pictures of your home? Did you take any lately?
When it comes to pictures, timing is everything. When the bride kisses the groom when little Timmy takes his first steps when 90-year old Grandma blows out the candles on her cake – all these pictures capture precious moments.
We take pictures to share them, some right away, others much later. When that 25th wedding anniversary arrives we post the original, walking-down-the-aisle wedding picture on Facebook. One great moment meets another.
So it is with your home. Its past will meet the present. Selling it will be a momentous occasion. When the day comes you want to show off your home at its best. But what if the Seattle weather ahead of the listing day continues to be dreary? What if those rhodies are well past their prime and the bloom is off your priceless roses? What if that wonderful view continues to be shrouded in clouds?
Get Ready Today to Sell Your Home – Whenever
Every listing has a main photo. Usually, it is a picture of the front of the home. In planning to take that main front shot consider, for example, the following:
- What direction does your home face?
- What time of day does it look its best?
- What time of the year is the front yard in bloom?
- Don’t those hanging flower pots next to the door look beautiful?
- Does your home look best at dusk or dawn with all indoor lights turned on?
It’s all about time and timing. The main picture can also be a picture of the view from your home. If a dramatic view makes your home special be alert at all times. Have a camera or smartphone ready. This is how I captured the rainbow picture above. I was visiting a friend’s home just west of Lake Sammamish. The view was beautiful already but a few minutes later the unusual rainbow image was gone.
More than Beauty Shots
There are other reasons to take pictures of your home. Whenever you make major improvements to your home you should document them. Here are a few examples:
- Additions, such as rooms and structures
- Major replacements, such as new roof, new windows
- Interior remodels, such as kitchen, bathroom
- New landscaping
